Recipes Tea Blends

Flower Garden Tea Blend- a relaxing evening tea.

This tea blend has been my go to for relaxing and unwinding in the evenings here lately. It’s a delicious blend of different garden flowers, mixed with touch of mint, and a little red rooibus.

The nice thing about this recipe (besides how tasty it is), is that you can switch it up however you want to create your own unique flavor, or if you need to substitute one flower for another.

What Makes this Tea so Relaxing?

Any cup of tea is going to be relaxing to me! But there’s a little more to this particular blend than just the comfort of tea in general.

Let’s take a look at the ingredients:

  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Violets*
  • Peppermint
  • Red Rooibus

Each of these ingredients has it’s own flavor and benefits, making this tea unique and delightful!

*or another mild flower, see recipe below.

Lavender

You may have already heard of the great relaxing properties of lavender, the smell alone can calm you down! But according to this article, lavender also can be helpful for reducing inflammation.

A few other benefits of lavender include: reducing feelings of anxiety, helping with hair loss, headaches, burns, and acne. 1

What a wonderful herb! Of course the benefits you get form it will depend on how you use it, I’m a big fan of adding lavender oil to my hair to promote growth, if nothing else it definitely smells great.

Chamomile

Chamomile is another wonderful herb known for helping you relax, but did you also know that it can help reduce inflammation as well?

This unique tasting flower, can be beneficial for women who struggle with menstrual cramps, has been shown to lower blood sugar, and is great for the skin as well! 2

Violets

Wild violets are a small edible flower that I look forward to collecting every spring! They grow all over our yard and have a mild grape/ pepper flavor that makes a nice tea or can be turned into jelly.

Violets have been used for a diuretic, inflammation, and a remedy for coughs. They are filled with vitamin c along with magnesium and calcium. 3

Peppermint

I love, love, love mint! Earlier this year, when I was really struggling with my health, peppermint tea was a life saver for me. It helped open up my lungs and settle my stomach.

Along with that, peppermint is helpful with headaches, reducing fatigue, aids in bacterial infections, and can improve sleep. 4

Red Rooibus

Red rooibus is one my favorite ways to have a caffeine free tea. I like mixing it half-and-half with lemon grass for something similar in taste to a black tea.

Although I like to use it as a base for decaf tea blends, it has it’s own benefits such as: heart health, being rich in antioxidants, allergies, and it may even assist in weight management. 5

Not a bad little tea blend, huh? So with all this information fresh in our noggins, lets finally make some tea!
