Devotional Making a House a Home

Christ- Advent & Homemaking: Christmas Eve

Tomorrow is Christmas and tonight we’ll be lighting the candle in he middle of the Advent wreath, The Christ candle.

I’m keeping this one short and sweet, but if you want to catch up on Advent or review, click on the links below:

Christ:

Before we begin, go ahead and light all five candles on the Advent wreath.

Isn’t that bright light beautiful? I hope you’ve felt the anticipation grow with each week as the light grew brighter and brighter. This light shines in the darkness just as Jesus is the light that out shine the darkness of this world. ( John 8:12, Eph. 5:8)

The Christ candle being in the center of the wreath is very fitting. Christ is in the center, just as He should be the center of our lives. Without Him we would not have the hope, peace, joy, or love that we have been talking about these past four weeks.

I want to encourage you to take the themes of Advent with you into the new year, and as you wait on Christs second Advent. Not by your own ability, but by keeping Jesus Christ as the center of your life. Grow your relationship with Him, and allow Him to change you. It may be a little scary at first, but it really is a beautiful relationship.

Read: Gal. 2:20, Col. 3:1-4, and Rom. 15:13.

What stands out to you in these verses? Write them down, and ask God to help you seek Him and His Kingdom more in this next year. You will not regret putting more effort into your relationship with Christ.

I hope you all enjoyed going through Advent with me as much as I enjoyed writing it. I will be taking next week off from writing, to catch up on a few things, so I will see you next year!

Have a very Merry Christmas, and a blessed new year.

Do you have any suggestions for the blog in the new year? Feel free to comment below, I love hearing from you!
